Prevenir es mejor que lamentar: el cuidado de la piel en el adulto mayor postrado en cama
Resumen
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo documentar la evidencia científica más actual sobre la promoción del cuidado integral de la piel del adulto mayor postrado en su domicilio y conocer las técnicas de prevención de potenciales lesiones. Para tal fin se procedió a realizar búsquedas en las principales bases de datos, sociedades científicas pertinentes a la prevención de lesiones en la piel del adulto mayor tales como PubMed, GNEAUPP, WOUNDS INTERNATIONAL. Se pudo identificar estrategias inherentes al cuidado de la piel tanto por las características morfo fisiológicas de la misma y las particularidades que posee el adulto mayor en este aspecto, para así poder comprender las dificultades que atraviesa cuando ya surgen las heridas. Por otra parte, se destacó evidencia relacionada a las lesiones por presión, lesiones por dermatitis asociada a incontinencia, desgarros cutáneos, así como la forma correcta de llevar acabo la higiene del paciente adulto mayor postrado a domicilio. La nutrición, y el cuidado integral del paciente mediante aplicación de protocolos establecidos por la enfermera profesional, benefician grandemente a los cuidadores de estos pacientes que se encuentran en sus casas y poder así disminuir la incidencia de complicaciones.
