Enfoque holístico de la violencia obstétrica en Ecuador: una problemática ética y sanitaria no visible

Resumen


Hace aproximadamente 30 años, Ecuador lucha contra la violencia física, verbal y psicológica hacia la mujer; actualmente, el país cuenta con una Ley Orgánica donde define a la Violencia Obstétrica como “toda acción u omisión que limite el derecho de la embarazada o no, a recibir servicios de salud gineco-obstétricos”. El presente artículo tiene como finalidad detallar la Violencia Obstétrica como una problemática ética y sanitaria no visible en el Ecuador, mediante un estudio observacional de tipo descriptivo basado en la recopilación de 30 artículos en las bases de datos PubMed y LILACS, donde se exponen factores de riesgos, tipos y la vulneración de los principios bioéticos, además de su prevalencia en el país. Se concluyó que los hallazgos demuestran claramente la existencia de un trato deshumanizante durante la gestación, parto y puerperio, secundarios a la omisión, falta de conocimiento, imprudencia, impericia y negligencia por parte del profesional de salud, comprometiendo la calidad de vida de las gestantes y puérperas.
