Opciones de tratamiento para mordida abierta anterior en pacientes adultos. Revisión de la literatura

Resumen


Introducción: La mordida abierta anterior (AOB) se define como una condición en la que no hay contacto ni superposición vertical de la corona del incisivo inferior con la corona del incisivo superior cuando la mandíbula está en completa oclusión, las etiologías pueden ser esqueletales, dentales, hábitos o una combinación de las mismas, los tratamientos pueden variar de acuerdo al diagnóstico de cada paciente. Objetivo: Conocer los diferentes tipos de tratamientos para la mordida abierta anterior. Materiales y Métodos: La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas Pubmed, Elsevier, Web of Science, Lilac, Taylor & Francis. La búsqueda se restringió a artículos en inglés, español y portugués, publicados desde el año 2012 al 2022. Resultados: Después de aplicar los criterios de inclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 23 artículos. Se realizo la revisión de literatura de las opciones de tratamiento de la mordida abierta anterior. Conclusión: La literatura disponible reveló que los tratamientos dependerán del diagnóstico y un plan de tratamiento para cada maloclusión, dentro de las opciones de tratamientos para corregir (AOB) encontramos tratamientos con el sistema invisaligh, sistema de arco recto, técnica Edwise, cirugía ortognática y ortodoncia, auxiliares más comunes para intrusión de molares como los TAD y topes.
