Endocarditis bacteriana por S. aureus en paciente con Valvulopatías, un enemigo silencioso en la consulta odontológica, revisión de literatura

Resumen


Conocer el medio de acción de la endocarditis bacteriana y su relación con S. aureus en pacientes con Valvulopatías que acuden a consulta odontológica.


La endocarditis se debe a una infección de las bacterias, los hongos u otros organismos infecciosos que ingresan al torrente sanguíneo y se adhieren a las áreas dañadas del corazón. Se sabe que S. Aureos son difíciles de procesar y son capaces de colonizar e infiltrarse en el torrente sanguíneo, por ende en las válvulas del corazón. La causa principal de esta migración de bacterias es una intervención quirúrgica en boca o tratamientos periodontales con alguna infección activa; por esta razón, algunas guías de instituciones dentales recomiendan la administración de antibióticos como la prevención antes de las mismas, especialmente con personas de avanzada edad o con enfermedades sistémicas.


En pacientes con cardiopatías o cardiopatías asociadas a alto riesgo de desarrollar endocarditis infecciosa, se sugiere la quimioprevención específica de esta patología antes de cualquier intervención odontológica que perfore la mucosa oral o implique manipulación de los tejidos gingivales y del periapice del diente. Los pacientes cardiopáticos con riesgo moderado de desarrollar endocarditis infecciosa deben ser evaluados individualmente por un especialista para decidir si limitar la profilaxis antibiótica.
