Advances in Regenerative Gynecology: Clinical Applications of PRP, Stem Cells, and Biodegradable Scaffolds. Systematic Review
Resumen
Regenerative medicine in gynecology, a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary field, seeks to restore organ and tissue function through the use of biological therapies. The main objective of this research is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the literature published between 2015 and 2025 to consolidate evidence on the clinical applications of regenerative medicine in gynecology. This systematic literature review, developed following PRISMA methodology guidelines, conducted an exhaustive search across multiple databases to consolidate evidence on its efficacy, safety, and clinical applicability in pathologies such as sexual dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, and ovarian insufficiency. Regenerative gynecology is an emerging field that uses therapies like platelet-rich plasma, stem cells, and biomaterials to treat various gynecological conditions. While these therapies show promise in tissue repair and function restoration, the field is still in its early stages. It is crucial to close the gap between research and clinical practice by standardizing protocols and conducting rigorous clinical trials, as the current evidence is limited and regulatory agencies maintain a cautious stance to protect patients from unproven therapies.
