Índice triglicéridos -glucosa y su asociación al riesgo cardiometabólico: Una mini revisión de alcance

Resumen


El índice de triglicéridos-glucosa (TyG) se considera un factor fundamental para diversas enfermedades metabólicas, cardiovasculares y cerebrovasculares. Sin embargo, actualmente hay pocos estudios sobre la asociación entre el índice TyG y el riesgo de enfermedades cardiometabólicas (ECM). El objetivo de esta revisión es fue explorar el riesgo de ECM en relación con el nivel a largo plazo y el cambio del índice TyG. Se aplicó un diseño documental tipo descriptivo y se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos PubMed, Redalyc, SciELO, Google Scholar, Science Direct y Cochrane Library. Se seleccionaron 74 artículos publicados entre los años 2019 a 2024. El nivel elevado a largo plazo y el cambio del índice TyG son factores de riesgo para la aparición de ECM, con un valor potencial para optimizar la estratificación del riesgo de ECV en la población general. Los estudios futuros deberían centrarse en diseños multicéntricos y multirregionales para explorar más a fondo la relación entre las ECM y el índice TyG en especial lo referente a ingesta y hábitos nutricionales. Como método novedoso, se espera que el índice TyG se convierta en un índice alternativo a la prueba de pinzamiento hiperinsulinémica-euglucémica (HIEC), un método tradicional para evaluar la sensibilidad y resistencia a la insulina.
